Athabasca Historic Sites & Interpretive Centres
One of Athabasca's significant historic landmarks, the Athabasca Train Station was built in 1912 and survived the Great Fire of 1913. The station was designed by architect Ralph Benjamin Pratt and features a characteristic three-gabled roof. Once a major CN Railway stop, the station is today a large meeting room for various community groups.
Athabasca Landing is a place of historic significance due to is geographic location, Hudson's Bay Company connection and the thousands of people passed through this 'Gateway to the North' on their journeys to the Peace and MacKenzie regions. Historical Interpretive signs are along Rotary Trail which details the significance of the location.
